CAT | Ovral
From time immemorial the mankind tried to control births by prevention unwanted pregnancies. It is known that back in 1850 BC the ancient Egyptians used various mixtures containing honey, sodium carbonate and crocodile manure for suppressing sperm activity (i.e. they used substances with spermicidal activity). With time people started to use less exotic birth control means. By 1550 BC they started to use cotton tampons damped with extract from fermented acacia blossoms. Various nations at different times used different subjects such as disks made from melted beeswax, oiled paper, marine algae. Fortunately times have changed and modern pharmaceutics offers a wide range of contraceptives including peroral ones which are most comfortable in use.
The optimal choice of a contraceptive means depends on the age of woman and fertility of the partner, since fertility of a woman depends directly on her age. Thus, 60-80 women aged 20-25 out of 100 get pregnant within a year of regular sex life without using any contraceptives, at the age of 30-35 only 25-50 women may get pregnant within a year, and just 5-15 women out of 100 who are above 40. The effectiveness of any method of birth control also depends on observance of rules of its use.
Ovral – is one of the most popular and effective birth control pills which is taken 5 minutes before sexual intercourse and the effect of which lasts 3-4 hours. Having both spermicidal and antiseptic effect, Ovral does not affect the normal vaginal microflora and hormonal cycle. Another advantage of Ovral is that the medicine has not been found in breast milk, which means it could be used during breastfeeding.
